Gerald "Jerry" Dean Crandall, age 85, passed away comfortably on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in Merced, California.
Jerry was born on December 13, 1940, in Merced, California, to Gerald and Thelma Crandall. He grew up in the Central Valley, attending local schools in both Merced and Chowchilla. Following his education, Jerry embarked on a dedicated, 30-year career with Farmers Insurance. Demonstrating a strong work ethic, he started his journey in the company mailroom and worked his way up to retire as a regional auditing manager. Jerry cherished his time with Farmers Insurance, frequently sharing fond stories from his working days. Most importantly, it was during his time there that he met the love of his life and future wife, Almerinda.
Outside of his professional life, Jerry was a man of many talents and passions. He was an avid woodworker, loved spending time working on cars, and took great joy in cooking for those he loved.
Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Almerinda Irene Crandall; his daughter, Debra; his parents, Gerald and Thelma; and his sisters, Pam and Pat.
He is survived by his loving children, Lori Scoggins (Jeff) and Jeff Crandall (Jenny); his cherished grandchildren, Brian Martinez, Taylor Sapien, and Shiloh Chaffin; and his brother, Edward Lee Crandall (Lynn Marie). He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he called home.
