Obituary

Daniel "Dan" Ramos
November 18, 1950 - April 8, 2025
Dan Ramos, beloved husband, father, papa, and lifelong resident of Los Banos, California, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, at the age of 74. He was surrounded by his loving family in his final moments.
Born on November 18, 1950, Dan spent his life deeply rooted in the community and land he cherished. He attended Los Banos High School, where he played football for the Tigers, graduating in 1968.
He went on to play football at Gavilan College in Gilroy. In 1973 he married the love of his life, Maryann Maffei of Gustine, and they began their life together in Los Banos. They were blessed with two sons Danny and Christopher. Dan devoted much of his life to his family's farming business, proudly working for many years alongside three generations, including his sons.
In the later years of his career, he found pride in selling John Deere tractors, like the ones he had driven through the fields for decades.
Dan was passionate about giving back to his community. He served for twelve years on the Los Banos Unified School District Board and also served on the Soil Conservation Board. He was a dedicated Swine Club leader for Our Lady of Fatima 4-H and a proud member of the Native Sons of the Golden West, the Los Banos Sportsmen's Club, and the Golden Agers.
In retirement, Dan found his greatest joy in spending time with his grandchildren. He never missed a game, a performance, or an opportunity to offer his unwavering support and encouragement.
A true outdoorsman, Dan loved fishing, hunting, barbecuing, smoking ribs, making Portuguese beans, and tending his garden. Each summer, family and friends eagerly awaited the "Famous Ramos" watermelons, along with his tomatoes and peppers.
He is survived by his loving wife, Maryann; his sons and daughters-in-laws, Danny and Erica Ramos, and Christopher and Anne Ramos; and his six treasured grandchildren: Cole, Eric, Dylan, Dakota, Danica, and Arlo Ramos. He is also survived by his sister, Diane Oddo, and her husband, Tim Natsues. Dan leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, dear friends, and his beloved dog, Buster. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Mary Ramos, and his brother, Louie Ramos Jr.
Dan's legacy is one of love, laughter, hard work, and a deep connection to family and his community. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A rosary and funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Los Banos, California.
