With great sadness Marjorie Robinson (Marge) passed away peacefully on February 19, 2024, at her apartment in Millbrae, California. The previous night's rains left multiple morning rainbows including a double rainbow that seemed to show her a path to heaven.
Marge was born in Los Banos, California on August 25th, 1920, to Manuel and Ethel Lewis who owned a local General Store, Lewis Brothers.
Marge was an avid musician and learned to play the piano, violin, and the clarinet. In 1930 at 10 years of age she had the privilege of playing for the Mayor of San Francisco.
She attended a private boarding school, Moreland Notre Dame, in Watsonville, and went on to attend San Jose State University and Stanislaus State University where she graduated.
During World War II Marge married her high school sweetheart, Ernest Balatti. They had two daughters, Carol, and Joan (Joni).
Marge got her pilots license while in high school and during the war was trained and certified as an airplane mechanic at Eagle Field where she worked.
Marge taught kindergarten and various other primary grades and worked as a band and orchestra teacher. After Ernest's death she ran for and was the first woman elected to the Los Banos City Council.
Several years later Marge married Elmer (Doc) Robinson and they enjoyed traveling together until he passed away in 2012.
Marge was greatly loved by everyone she came in touch with due to her warm, cheerful, and happy attitude.
She spent the last 8 years of her 103-year life at a retirement home in Millbrae, California where she was surrounded by many beloved friends, residents, and staff.
Marge is preceded in death by her husband's Ernest Balatti and Elmer (Doc) Robinson. She is survived by her daughters Carol, Joni (John), stepson Richard (Jean) as well as grandchildren Becky, John, Philip, step-grandson Evan and great-grandchildren Ashley, Lucy, and Kyle.
Memorial services will be held at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel, 1840 S. Center Ave., Los Banos, CA on March 14th at 10:30 am.
