My name is Alan Aranda. My mother is Gabriela Gontes. I have a brother and sister Celine (23) and Armand (28). I’m now 21 years old but when I knew Miguel, I must have been 9 or 10 years old. Miguel was my mothers teacher and because of my mother’s struggle being a single parent of 3 kids, Miguel helped take care of us when we were younger. I have fond memories of Miguel. He was always so kind and generous to us and my mother. From time to time, he would make his famous bread pudding for us. He was a lovely man. Oddly enough, just yesterday I was thinking about him while I was eating, then a day later, my mother would send me the news on whatsapp of Miguel. Strange coincidence but perhaps it was meant to be. I knew I had to share of what a great man Miguel was and his love and fantastic personality. I do miss him dearly. It makes one think “Why didn’t I reach out to him after all these years”. It must have been all the chaos that followed after we separated, but one thing is for sure, we will all see Miguel again one day. That I know as God is my witness. My heart and condolences go out to the family, and if anybody would like to reach out to talk, my number is
(408) 797-9209.
My email is alanarandagontes@gmail.com.
God bless.
Mike provided a valuable service to the Portuguese community for decades. He will be missed.
The Portuguese community in California lost a great man with a golden heart. You have accomplished many good things in life. You sleep well, my friend. The time we shared will forever be in my heart. My prayers are with you and your family. Accept my warm and heart felt sympathy. May the treasured memories bring you a time of comfort.
