Rita Moretti Bland passed away after a brief battle with cancer on February 23, 2023 at the age of 73.
Rita was born to Anna Brucato Moretti and John Raffaele Moretti on August 5, 1949 in Los Banos, CA. She was raised in Los Banos, where her father established Foster's Freeze in 1952. Rita worked at the family business until she assumed ownership in 1981. It was through Foster's Freeze that she offered many local teens their first work experience, teaching them how to work hard, have fun, and continued Johnny Moretti's rule that if you can't count change, you have to find work somewhere else. Rita was quick to turn a stranger into a friend, had a wonderful sense of humor, and a strong Italian spirit.
Rita's sons, Jason and Justin, along with their families, were her pride and joy. In 1982 she married Ronnie Bland. She continued to operate Foster's Freeze until she and Ronnie moved to Pismo, CA with Ronnie's trucking business and eventually shifted to working in real estate. In 2015 they returned to Los Banos to be closer to family, where she resided until her passing.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Moretti, as well as her sister Joanna Morris. She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Bland, her children Jason (Sara) Goins and Justin (Jenny) Goins, five grandchildren Aaron (Mariah) Goins, Paige (AJ) Galindo, Ashlee Jasso, Adrienne Jasso, Andrew Goins, and four great grandchildren: Jaxson, Hudson, and Mason Goins, and Maverick Campos. Rita is also survived by her sister, Judy (Tom) Stown, her Uncle Antonino (Franca) Brucato, and many dearly loved extended family members, as well as friends who became family.
A celebration of life will be held on March 6th, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Fathers House 1005 I St., Los Banos, Ca.,93635.
