Obituary
A lifelong resident of Los Banos entered into rest February 10, 2022 in Modesto. She was 94 years young. LaVerne was a member of the Druids Circle 153 and Golden Agers.
LaVerne was born in San Francisco. She attended local schools in Los Banos. Upon graduation, LaVerne attended Notre Dame College in Belmont. She attended 1 year and got lonely for home. She came back to Los Banos where she met and married a handsome young soldier named Manuel J. (Cardy) Cardoza on Valentine's Day 1953.
LaVerne resided in her home for 69 years, where she had many, many dear neighbors who became extended family, sharing many good times and memories.
LaVerne was quiet and fun-loving who loved her family dearly. She loved to host family gatherings for celebrations and holidays. Mom has left us with traditions that will be carried to generations to come, however, we could never match her signature carrot cakes.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Louis and Josephine Leos, her husband Manuel J. (Cardy) Cardoza and beloved son Louis P. Cardoza.
LaVerne is survived by her two grateful daughters, Jayne (Chris) Cesario and Sharon (Steve) Hogan, one sister Sophie Leos Hume, and Godchild Anne Gargano.
She leaves behind four grandchildren, Anthony and Kristin Cesario, Alexis and Lucas Cardoza. In addition, four great-grandchildren, John DeLeon, and Elliott, Benjamin, and Amelia Cardoza.
A Mother's love is a Blessing for all of your life. Our Mother, our Hero.
A viewing will be held on February 22, 2022 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church.
