Peter Michael LoBue, longtime resident of Los Banos, passed away on August 1, 2013.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 30, 1945. At eight months of age, his family moved to San Jose and at age six, he and his parents, Rita and Anthony LoBue moved to Los Banos. Peter attended Our Lady of Fatima Elementary School and graduated from Los Banos High School. After several years of college, Peter moved to Arizona to take over management of family farming operations. Farming, always central to his life, took him to Lompoc and then to a happy return to his beloved “hometown”, Los Banos in 1979, where he farmed until his death.

Peter’s passion was his work. He loved farming and all of its elements, accepting the risks and always innovating. If there was a better way to farm he was challenged to find it. Nothing suited him more than driving the ranches or walking the furrows. Peter stayed current on politics and the economy, especially as it related to agriculture. For relaxation Peter enjoyed hunting, the theatre, traveling and of course a good Italian meal. He also took great pleasure commanding the helm at his oversized BBQ pit, sharing camaraderie and delicious grilled fare with friends and family. Peter relished the role of godfather and took an active part in the lives of his godchildren. But most of all, his daughter, Amanda, was the light of his life.

Peter is preceded in death by his parents. He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 20 years, Bronson; his beloved daughter Amanda of Santa Rosa; his caring sister Candida, of Yerington Nevada; and many other close family members and wonderful friends.

The family wishes to thank Dr. John Telles and the compassionate nurses of Saint Agnes for their care and attention to Peter during the last several weeks.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel on Thursday, August 8, 2013 and the rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.. The funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1621 Center Avenue, Los Banos on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Los Banos District Cemetery. Remembrances in Peter’s honor may be sent to Our Lady of Fatima School, Los Banos.
