Rose Genevieve Toscano (nee Caropreso), long time cherished resident of Los Banos, passed away peacefully after a long illness on October 30th at Memorial Hospital in Modesto.
One of eight children, Rose was born to Guiseppe and Teresa (Peluso) Caropreso in Fresno and raised on a ranch in Dos Palos. In 1957, Rose moved to Los Banos with her husband, Joe L. Toscano to begin a laundry business, “The Crystal White Steam Laundry. “
Rose was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Whether she was "Mom," "Auntie," "Grandma Rose," or "Rosie," her greatest joy in life was being surrounded by family and friends. Beautiful Rose will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In 2007, Rose Toscano was recognized by the Merced County's "Old Timer's Organization" having reached the age of 80 years old and having resided in Merced County at least 50 years. The event was held at the Italo/American Lodge in Merced on April 29, 2007.
Rose is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Joe L. Toscano; Sisters: Carmella Guifreda and Mary Lumsden; Brothers: Johnny Caropreso, Nick Caropreso, and Little Johnny Caropreso at the age of two.
Survivors include her sisters: Antionette (Johnny) Fontes of Gustine and Phyllis (Rod) Freeman of Grants Pass, Oregon; Daughters: Terri Toscano (Ron) Mungo of Clayton and Cheryl Brannon of Los Banos; Step-daughter: Patricia Toscano (Edward) Mevi of San Francisco; and Son: Ted (Sharon) Brannon of Oakland; Four Grandchildren: Brianna Mungo, Natalye Rose Brannon, Ethan Mevi, Ashley Mevi-Kneafsey; Two Great Granchildren: Luke Kneafsey and Lucia Rose Mevi.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 11, 2013 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., the rosary will be recited at 7:00. On Tuesday, November 12, 2013 there will be a service at 11:00 a.m. Both services will be held at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel on Center Avenue in Los Banos.
