Obituary
Ralph G. Furman, a long time resident of Dos Palos quietly passed from this life on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 in Merced. He was 93.
Ralph was born November 12, 1920 in Fresno, California, the son of Arthur and Alice (Sutterfield) Furman. He came to Dos Palos in 1937 and graduated from Dos Palos High School. Ralph served in the US Army during WWII.
In 1945, after his honorable discharge, Ralph returned to Dos Palos and worked for 18 years in the Cotton Gin. He then worked as a Postal Carrier for the USPS for 20 years. Ralph met Opal Davidson and married her in 1983.
Ralph was a member of the American Legion Post 86 for 60 years, VFW and Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church for many years. He was an avid deer hunter and outdoors man.
Ralph was a grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and great uncle. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and siblings.
He is survived by his wife Opal who remained by his side for 30 years, grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 5:00-7:00pm at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel in Dos Palos. A Funeral Service is scheduled for Friday, December 20, 2013 at 1pm. Burial with military honors will be held at Dos Palos Cemetery District.
