John Gilbert Alves was born in Los Banos, CA to parents Serino and Amelia Alves. He had five siblings. He attended Charleston School. John was always in the dairy business. He began with his father and brothers as Serino Alves & Sons and later as Alves Brothers with John and Frank Alves. They were in business until 1973 when they decided to retire.
John and Sandra were married in 1971. They enjoyed each other and their families. John especially loved to eat anything Sandra cooked, but especially loved her baking.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Serino and Amelia Alves; sister; Elizabeth Burnell; brother; Frank Alves and Godson; Stephen Alves.
John is survived by his wife Sandra, brother; Robert Alves of Mibrae, CA, sisters; Jean DeSa of Los Banos, CA and Yvonnee (Donald) Paradiso of Los Banos, CA and many nieces and nephews.
Vigil Service with Rosary on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 9 am at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel in Los Banos, Funeral Service will follow at 10:30am. Burial at Los baos District Cemetery. Services under the direction of Whitehurst Funeral Chapel-Los Banos.
