Fred Petroni, 83 passed away suddenly on December 1, 2014. Fred was born on November 14, 1931 in Italy and immigrated to the United States in 1946; he was immediately relocated to Merced, California where he began working on his uncles farm as a mechanic. Several years later, he was in the farming industry and started working for Delta Farms and soon became a partner.
Fred was a vibrant man. He enjoyed the many luxuries that life had given him. His most valuable was his family. He loved to gather the family together for any occasion to eat, fish, hunt, or camp. He loved his grandchildren and would support them at every event.
After retirement, traveling in the RV with his wife Mary was one simple pleasure that Fred enjoyed, especially with his "Group" of camping buddies.
Preceded in death by his brother, Agustino "Gus" Petroni. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Petroni; son, John and wife Yvonne Petroni; daughter; Gina and husband Richard Young, granddaughters; Hayley, Hannah, and Hallie Young.
Friday, December 5, 2014 at noon at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the rosary will be recited. At 12:30, the Funeral Mass will begin and burial will follow at the Los Banos District Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Whitehurst Funeral Chapel-Los Banos.
