Obituary

Albertina was born in Snelling, Ca, and relocated to Dos Palos at an early age. She attended local schools and graduated from Dos Palos High School in 1941. As a young adult Tina sang on the radio. In 1945 Tina met her sweetheart, Joseph, and two years later they married. Together, they had four children: Joan, Joseph, Celeste, and Mike.
Tina was a homemaker and was very active in her children's lives. She taught Catechism at Sacred Heart School and was involved with 4H and Future Farmers of America. Tina was also very active with Our Lady of Fatima Society and the Los Banos Altar Society.
She and her husband loved to travel and many of their trips were with the Golden-Agers. They traveled extensively throughout the United States included the Grand Canyon, Graceland, Las Vegas, New Orleans, an Alaskan cruise, and seeing the fall colors of the Eastern states. Their foreign travel included Canada, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, and their homeland, the Azores.
Tina loved celebrations (Christmas was her favorite) and never missed any of her children and grandchildren's birthdays. Tina loved good food and good company and never passed on an opportunity to eat tacos. Tina prided herself on never missing Mass or her hair appointments!
She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Joe, and by her son Joseph. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Lopez of Madera, her daughter Celeste Swenson and her husband Eric of Redwood City, and her son Mike Areias and his wife Lisa of Dos Palos; her grandchildren: Adam Lopez and his wife Felicia, Aaron Lopez, Bryan Catalli, Alison Catalli, Shannon Varty and her husband Danny, Steven Areias, Luke Schnoor, Logan Schnoor, and Delaney Joe Areias; and two great-grandchildren: Ella Lopez and Carson Schnoor.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Maria, Jeff, and Nyla Luis for their compassionate care given to Tina so that she could continue to stay in her home.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Los Banos on Wednesday, February 4 at 9:30 a.m with the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Los Banos District Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Whitehurst Funeral Chapel~Los Banos.
