Obituary
Danny J. Iacopi passed away on July 28, 2015 in Los Banos.
Danny was born and raised in Los Banos to Felice and Teresa Iacopi who arrived from Lucca, Italy before the turn of the century. His parents were founding pioneers and prominent members of the Los Banos Community developing the coal, wood, ice, soda and spirits business.
He was preceded in death by his family members Louie, Fred, Ema Salha, Valia and Mario Iacopi. He was the devoted husband of the late Ann C. Iacopi, father and friend to Dr. Daniel F. Iacopi of Encino and John T. Iacopi of Stockton, loving grandfather to Nick Iacopi and Amy Iacopi Roetter, great grandfather to Genevieve and Simon Roetter and John D. Iacopi.
Danny worked his career at PG & E in Los Banos for 35 years. He enjoyed an active retirement life spending his time with his wife and family, traveling, working on his properties, gardening and hunting for as long as he was able.
He was married to the love of his life, Ann, in 1944, a marriage that would last until her passing in December, 2012, a 68 year marriage.
Danny was a proud veteran of World War II and suffered through the horrors of warfare in the jungles of Guadalcanal and Fiji, narrowly escaping death on many occasions.
He was a devoted Catholic and supported various Catholic foundations and events. He was a member of the Italian Catholic Federation, Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Fatima Society and other organizations.
Services will be held on Wednesday, August 12 at 10:30 AM for rosary and 11 AM for mass. There will be no visitation. Committal will follow at Los Banos Cemetery where he will rest in peace alongside his late wife, Ann. They rest together. Services are under the direction of Whitehurst Funeral Chapel~Los Banos.
