Mary L. Silva, 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 27,
2015. Mary was born on August 11, 1945 in Merced. She grew up in Los Banos and attended
local schools, and graduated from Los Banos High School. Mary married Manuel Silva and relocated to Fresno where they raised their beautiful daughter Julie together. Mary worked for the school district as a teacher’s Aide for 39 years. In 2006, Mary and Manuel relocated to Los Banos to live near family. They both enjoyed working part time at the Softball fields as grounds keepers and made many many friends. Mary enjoyed crafting, Facebooking, and cooking. She loved her “49ER’S” and the Dodgers. But her true love was her family. She was always there with that contagious smile and crazy laugh that let everyone know she loved them.
She is preceded in death by her father, John T. Blackwood; daughter, Julie Silva Braun; brothers: Louie, Eddie, and Richard Blackwood.
Mary is survived by her motherGladys Affonso; brother Tom (Christine) Blackwood; sisters:
Margaret Stavers, Lupe (Wayne) McCabe, and Nellie (Eulan) Vandemark; grandsons: Nathan and Christian Braun; many nieces & nephews.
Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015 the visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel, the rosary will be recited at 7:00; Friday, Dec. 4, there will be a funeral mass held at St. Joseph’s
Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m.; at 1:30 p.m there will be graveside service at Fresno Memorial
Gardens, 175 S. Cornelia Ave, Fresno, CA 93706. Services are under the direction of Whitehurst
Funeral Chapels~Los Banos.
