Dorothy Mae Hutsell, 81, passed away peacefully in Oceanside, Ca. on July 11, 2016.
Dorothy was born in Los Banos, Ca. on December 2, 1934 to the late Joseph and Wilhelmina Lewis. She attended local schools until her graduation from Los Banos High in 1953. Dorothy married the late Lawrence Hutsell on June 9, 1957 and celebrated 56 years together.
Dorothy worked as a telephone operator for Pacific Bell in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. She later went on to work for the local Foremost Creamery for several years. In the mid 1980’s she moved to Tehachapi, Ca. with Lawrence where they spent close to 25 years. While in Tehachapi she worked for several years at the Saint Vincent De Paul store in which her children believe she was the store’s best customer. Dorothy and Lawrence loved to travel the country in their motor home. She would collect bells from all their travel destinations. They also joined a square dance group in which they received awards for their dancing. Dorothy was a member of Y.L.I. and S.P.R.S.I.
Dorothy is survived by three children: Gary (Mary) of Los Banos; Greg (Nettie) of Oceanside Ca. and Julie (Bert) Dumars of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Two grandchildren Hayden and Michelle Dumars.
Services will be held at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel in Los Banos, Ca. on August 5, 2016 at 10am. Dorothy will be laid to rest with her husband Lawrence at the San Joaquin National Cemetery in Santa Nella, Ca.
