Alveda Christine Parreira (ne Cozzi) was born to Joseph and Rosa Cozzi in Dos Palos, CA on August 30, 1928 and passed away peacefully on August 4, 2016 in Los Banos, CA at the age of 87. Alveda married Frank Parreira in 1948 and made the big move to Los Banos, where she lived the rest of her life. Alveda and Frank were married for 63 years until Frank’s passing in 2012. Alveda was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Milliken Museum Society, Los Banos Golden Agers, and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. Alveda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Alveda was a dedicated employee of Wells Fargo Bank for over 30 years.
Until just a few years ago, Alveda served on the Milliken Museum Society Board and the Los Banos Golden Agers Board. Up until Frank’s passing, both were always busy in the kitchen or selling drink script at the monthly Golden Agers Dinners and Senior Socials.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Parreira, her parents, Joseph and Rosa Cozzi, brothers Frank, Tony, Danny, and Shorty, sisters Millie Gilardi and Violet Clinton.
She is survived by her daughter Patti Parreira-Alberti (Ron) of Los Banos, sons Anthony (Kim) of Los Banos and Donald (Terri) of Fresno, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, brother Jerry Cozzi (Dorothy), and numerous nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, August 10th at 7pm at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel in Los Banos. A Funeral Mass will be Thursday, August 11th at 10am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Los Banos. Burial will be in the Los Banos Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Alveda’s name to the Milliken Museum Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
