Obituary
Donald L. Prien, 87, passed away on November 12, 2016. Donald was born in Los Banos, attended local schools, worked in the community, and retired here. Don married the love of his life, Barbara Toscano, on November 20, 1949 (the ultimate birthday gift). Soon thereafter he left to serve in the U.S. Navy from 19521956 on the USS Southerland as a Seaman First Class. Donald was best known for his time at the “Speedy Car Wash”, he and his wife Barbara were the owner operators for over 20 years. Don was known for his kindness and open-minded nature. He always tried to help out anyone that needed a chance to work. He never had prejudice in his heart and accepted those in need of work without bias based on nationality or beliefs; and that wasn’t always easily accepted in a small farm town in the 70’s. He was very proud to serve with the Los Banos Fire Department as a Volunteer Fire Fighter; and also belonged to the Los Banos Boat Club. Donald is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Barbara “Bobbie” Prien, and his brother Jim Prien. He is survived by his two sons Craig (June) Prien of Los Banos and Bruce (Julie) Prien of Seattle, WA.
