Bertha G. Martinez a long time resident of Firebaugh, California passed away at Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno on Thursday, November 24, 2016. She was 89.
Bertha was born August 24, 1927 in Jalisco, Mexico, the daughter of Gorgonio and Bernabe (Soto) Gonzalez. She met and married the love of her life Ernesto Martinez on March 1, 1955 in Mexico. In her early years she worked in the fields during the summers while maintaining her home and serving her husband and children.
She enjoyed cooking for her family, traveling, playing poker, fine dining, reading and spent quality time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bertha will be greatly missed and remembered by her family, friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Ernesto Martinez.
She is survived by her children, Sally Martinez of Fresno, CA, Erma Martinez of Firebaugh, CA, Elvia Martinez-Mullins of Turlock, CA, Ernest Martinez Jr., of Firebaugh, CA, Joe Martinez of Fresno, CA and many family and friends.
A Vigil Service with Rosary will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 5:00 pm at St. Joseph Church of Firebaugh, CA. The Funeral Mass at 10:00 am on Friday, December 2, 2016 at St. Joseph Church of Firebaugh. Burial at Saint Peters Cemetery.
