Dr. Francisco A. Alonso, 79, of Los Banos, CA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at home. Born in Cavite City, Philippines, to Augusto and Rose Alonso, he lived most of his life in Los Banos, CA.
Dr. Alonso graduated from the Far Eastern University, Manila, Philippines in 1962. Following graduation, he did his OB internship in Chicago, then general surgery residency at Illinois Masonic Medical Center, also in Chicago.
Specializing in General Surgery, he practiced medicine for over 50 years at Los Banos Memorial and had his own private practice in Los Banos. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and traveled the world to play on some of the finest courses available. But nothing was more important to him than his children, grandchildren and extended family: Jaime Alonso (son), Frances Lawson (daughter), Nicole Scott (daughter), Randy Lawson (son in-law), Jamie Scott (son in-law), Michael Alonso (grandson), Ailea Alonso (granddaughter), Noah Scott (grandson), Lukas Scott (grandson), Emy Leus-Alonso (wife), Harlene Leus (stepdaughter), Hariet Leus (stepdaughter), Howard Leus (stepson). He is also survived by his sister Dolores Alonso-Potenciano.
Predeceased by his brother, Augusto Alonso Jr. and his first wife, Viola S. Alonso.
Viewing will be at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel, 1840 Center Avenue, Los Banos, CA 93635 from 10AM – 1PM, Saturday, April 29, 2017 followed by the Recitation of the Rosary at 1pm. Funeral Service at 1:30 pm.
