Mary A. Costa passed away on Thursday, August 24th at the age of 90. She was born in Los Banos on January 3rd, 1927. Mary enjoyed working at Los Banos Nursing and Rehab Hospital when it was known as the Los Banos Convalescent Hospital. Later she worked at Head Start as a teacher’s assistant. However, one of her greatest joys was baking for her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents Antoine Briozo and Mary Salha, her sister Olivia Briozo Triste Dambrosia, her husband Albert C. Costa, and her daughter Maryann Costa Martin. Mary is survived by her three children: Patricia Militano of Atwater, Albert C. Costa Jr. and his wife Judy Costa of Pine Mountain Lake, and Michael Costa Sr. and his wife Lenny Costa of Dos Palos. She has 12 grandchildren: Kristan Militano; Jim, John and Joe Wagner; Jeremy, Joanna (Crabtree), Matthew and Jonathan Martin; Michael Jr., Brian, and Joshua Costa. As well as six great grandchildren: Rubi and Ana Wagner; Ethan and Kendyl Martin; and Ashlyn and Creed Crabtree.
Graveside Service will be Friday, September 1st at 10 a.m. at the Los Banos Cemetery District. Family and friends may gather at the Whitehurst Funeral Chapel at 9 a.m. before moving over to the cemetery for the graveside service conducted by Glen Bowman, minister from the Los Banos Church of Christ.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Los Banos Nursing and Rehab Hospital or Bristol Hospice of Merced. Services are under the direction of Whitehurst Funeral Chapel- Los Banos.
