Isaac Samuel McElvany, a longtime resident of Los Banos passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017 with his wife at his bedside. He was born on August 11, 1935 in San Diego, CA and was the third eldest son of James Leon and Wilma McElvany.
He graduated the Army Navy Academy in Carlsbad, CA with high honors in 1954. After graduation, he joined his father J.L. McElvany in the family tile drainage business. Ike married his high school sweetheart Helen Gould of Chula Vista in 1956. They were married 61 years. The couple moved to Los Banos in 1967 and soon after Ike former his own company, McElvany Tile of Northern CA, Inc.
During his career, he traveled to Pakistan representing the World Bank as a drainage expert for the United States. He served as President of Land Improvement Contractors of America in 1983.
He loved traveling with Helen and spending time with his family at their Lake Tahoe home. He was a member of the Freemasons, Los Banos Elks and Land Improvement Contractors of America.
He was preceded in death by his father J.L. McElvany, his mother Wilma McElvany and three brothers: Don, David and Carl McElvany.
Isaac is survived by his loving wife Helen McElvany; son Charles (Holli) McElvany of Los Banos, CA; daughter Cindy (Gary) Bellitt of Brentwood, CA; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel of Los Banos on Monday, October 23, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral Service on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel of Los Banos. Burial at the Los Banos Cemetery District. Services under the direction of Whitehurst Funeral Chapel-Los Banos.
