Arnold August Barcellos was born on February 4, 1940 in Los Banos, California to August and Adelaide Barcellos. He passed away on December 18, 2017, at the age of 77 years old, at his home in Los Banos, surrounded by his family.
Arnold attended and graduated from Westside Union High School, where he met his high school sweetheart, Teresina Bon. After high school, he received his AA degree in Agriculture at Modesto Junior College. Arnold and Terry were later married in May of 1962.
After college, Arnold joined his father as a dairyman and continued to work in the dairy industry until 1987. In 1988 his sons, Aaron and Aric joined him in building A-Bar Ag Enterprises; a diversified farming operation. Arnold enjoyed learning and representing new innovations in farming and he shared a lifelong love for cattle and horses. He was an active member of several organizations; including the Western Dairyman’s Association, the San Joaquin Valley Dairymen's Association and the Los Banos Sportsman’s Club. Arnold served on several professional boards, and had the privilege of sitting as a member of the board of directors for Yosemite Farm Credit for over 40 years.
He enjoyed several adventures with his family and friends, including traveling around the world with Terry, piloting his own airplane, hunting across America, scuba diving in tropical places, snow skiing and cheering on his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren during sporting events.
Arnold is preceded in death by his parents August and Adelaide Barcellos and daughter, Brenda Leue.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Terry; his children Bonnie (Jim) Carver, Aaron Barcellos, Aric (Stacee) Barcellos, Tama Clarke, and Bethany (Ken) Lewis; his sister Betty (Jim) Swelha; his grandchildren Ali (Eric) Germino, Bryce Leue, Joshua Mathews, Jake (Rachel) Barcellos, Mariah Mathews, Claudia Leue, Alec Barcellos, Cole (Lydia) Leue, Corbin Clarke, Savannah Lewis, Presley Lewis, and Ayden Barcellos; his great-grandchildren Luke Germino, Hayden Leue, Grant Germino, Nova Soto, and Beau Barcellos.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to New Bethany Residential Care & Skilled Nursing, NAMI Organization, or charity of choice.
The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 9:30am a.m. at St Joseph's Church in Los Banos, CA followed by the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Internment at the Los Banos Cemetery District. Services Entrusted to Whitehurst Funeral Chapel-Los Banos.
