Sandra passed to her heavenly home at age 82 on February 3, 2018. She was born in Nebraska on May 7, 1935 to the late Maurice and Marian Thompson. Sandra grew up in Nebraska and moved to Colorado at age 12 where her parents were teachers in Saguache, Colorado. She met her future high school sweetheart and husband, Mark, in the 7th grade. Sandra worked as a waitress and then as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell Telephone Co. for the next 12 years. Sandra and Mark married in August, 1953, while he was in college While Mark was in the USAF, stationed in Sacramento, their first daughter, Christy, was born. After his tour of duty, they moved back to Pueblo, Colorado where daughter, Roxy, was born. In 1964 they moved to San Mateo, California and their third daughter, Connie was born in 1968. They moved to Los Banos in August of that year, where Mark was employed with the school district. After her daughters were in school, Sandra worked part-time in Los Banos at Coast to Coast Hardware and the Doubletree clothing store. Sandra was a special wife, mother, and doting grandmother. She was an excellent cook and homemaker. Her hobbies were sewing, gardening, and playing golf. She enjoyed traveling, especially around the United States playing golf with her husband. She was a 4-H leader, La Caridad Guild member, and a member of the Los Banos Golden Agers. She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.
She was preceded in death by two of her three siblings, Ronald and Patricia. She is survived by her husband Mark; daughters: Christy Huff (Robert), Roxy Gomes (Les III), and Connie Falasco; 8 grandchildren: Justin Durrer, Janelle Durrer, Robbie Huff, Kyle, Cody and Mariah Gomes, Rhiannon and Shae Falasco; one sister, Joyce Muhic (Tom); and many nephews and nieces.
Services will be held on Monday, February 12 at 11:30 am at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel, 1840 S. Center Ave., Los Banos, CA, followed by burial at 2:00 pm at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 McCabe Rd., Gustine, CA. Services are entrusted to Whitehurst Funeral Chapels~Los Banos.
