Guadalupe Garcia was an amazing co-worker and a kind soul. I used to work down the hall from him at building 949 where he worked. I remember the first time I met him was in the mail room and eventually we started talking to each other each time our paths crossed in the hallway. Lupe was always in a good mood and funny! My nickname for him was Cowboy because he always wore a cowboy hat to work. Lupe and I would talk about everything - from work, to family, to the Dallas Cowboys, to Texas, to politics...some of my favorite times at work were when we were able to catch up and talk. He was so easy to talk to. Sometimes an hour long conversation felt like five minutes. I will miss Lupe's contagious smile and big heart. He was so friendly and just an all around good person. To the family of Lupe, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I hope God plants a peace in your hearts and a comfort in your soul knowing that one day we will all be reunited with our loved ones in heaven. May you rest in peace Cowboy! You will be missed.
To the family of Lupe, I am very sorry for the loss of Guadalupe Garcia, he was a great man. I worked in the room next to Lupe at the VA McClellan and we used to always talk about Life, Family, the Army, Texas and our motorcycles. I felt bad sometimes because Lupe had so much to say but I could not talk that much at work because I was extremely bust all the time. He used to tell me to take a break or eat my lunch, but I never took breaks or ate lunch so I could leave work early to be with my kids. Lupe was such a proud Veteran and used to tell me stories of his military time. He would give me advice on what he thought I should do in my work situation and anything else he thought he could help with. I was off work for about a week and was catching up on my emails late at night when I saw the email about Lupe's sudden passing. I had to read it twice to make sure it wasn't a mistake because it felt like I had just seen and spoken to him. I immediately teared up for my fellow Veteran, Mexican-American (Chicano), co-worker and friend. I will miss the black cowboy hat, Army clothing and long stories of Guadalupe Garcia, my friend. Please call me if the family needs any Veteran Resources. If I don't know the answer, I know someone who will.
Sincerely,
Manuel Guerra Jr.
