Obituary

Alma Christina Monreal Espino "Chickie", age 61, passed away in Clovis, California on January 21, 2026. She was raised in Dos Palos, California by her loving parents, George and Oralia Anne Espino.
After graduating from California State University, Fresno, Chickie built a dedicated career as an Account Clerk III with the City of Merced, where she worked faithfully for 27½ years with reliability and heart.
Chickie was known for her sharp humor, sarcastic wit, and contagious laughter. She had a gift for making people laugh and never missed a chance to enjoy life. A true sports fanatic, she was fiercely loyal to the San Francisco Giants and loved baseball. She also cheered passionately for the San Francisco 49ers and Fresno State football, and enjoyed watching tennis, gymnastics, and the Olympics whenever she could. Sports weren't just entertainment to her -- they were part of how she connected with family and friends.
Above everything, Chickie loved her family. She loved her daughter, Katelynn, beyond measure, and cherished the time they spent traveling the states, watching television together, and enjoying Giants games side by side. Her favorite memories were made surrounded by family, especially the time she treasured with her grandmothers, Nana Concepcion and Mama Nena. She adored her nieces and nephews and took pride in being a constant presence in their lives.
Chickie lived in remission from Hodgkin's lymphoma for 18 strong years, a testament to her resilience and determination. She later faced leukemia with the same courage. Though her earthly battle ended, her victory lives on beyond this life -- a reflection of her strength, spirit, and faith.
She leaves behind her parents, George and Oralia Anne Espino; her daughter, Katelynn Colbert (stepdaughter Amanda); her sister, Victoria Espino Llewellyn (Jeremy); and her brother, Rudy Espino (Susan), nieces & nephews, God children, fur babies, along with a large extended family who will forever carry her laughter and love with them.
Chickie will be remembered for her humor, her fierce loyalty, her love of sports, and the joy she brought into every room. Her legacy is one of resilience, laughter, and deep family love.
