With great sadness, we announce the passing of Barry Wayne Beals, a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, accomplished professional, and much-loved friend. Barry's life was marked by love, laughter, and a curious mind that never ceased to explore.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, to Laverne and Grace (nee Beckett) Beals, a family with a rich tradition of excellence and intellectual curiosity. Barry grew into a kind and thoughtful individual who valued wisdom, experience, and diligence. He embodied the generous spirit of his family and carried the same qualities into every aspect of his life.

Barry's love for his family was immeasurable, and the warmth he provided them with continues to warm our hearts and inspire new generations.

Professionally, Barry was a seasoned technical expert. His groundbreaking work on IBM's continuous voice recognition systems and early revisions of what we now know as GPS systems earned him respect and admiration from his colleagues and peers.

Those who were fortunate enough to know Barry will always remember the joy in his eyes, the snicker in his smile, and the sharp mind behind his humorous chuckles. He was a true friend to all--quick to laugh, slow to anger, and always willing to lend a helping hand when needed.

In his final days, Barry remained the same adventurous and curious individual who lived life to its fullest. He embraced new experiences, took joy in company with loved ones, and maintained a sense of wonder that never faded.

Barry passed away on September 23 attended by daughter Ellie, and surrounded in spirit by those he loved--the people who knew and cherished him most. Barry is survived by his children Andy (Jyll), Ellie (Mark) and Matt (Cherrish), grandchildren Deanna (Scott) Azevedo and Andrée Beals, great-grandchildren Leo and Oz Azevedo, brothers Brian and Cameron, and several nieces and nephews.

We will always carry the legacy of Barry with us--the love he shared, the wisdom he imparted, and the inspiration he provided. May his memory be a source of strength and encouragement to all who knew and loved him.

Farewell, Barry. May your journey be filled with adventure, discovery, and the love of those who remember you.
