Heaven received a beautiful angel on December 12, 2015. Betty Chaparro, born April 7, 1932, was called home. She was surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born in Salinas CA and lived in the Salinas, Watsonville area. She worked hard her whole life. Betty started working in the fields at age 14, and it was there that she met her husband Antonio “Tony” Chaparro. They married in 1949 and had three children, Gloria, Delia, and Ron and raised them in Los Banos, CA. Sadly in 1973 Tony passed away, leaving Betty a widow. In 1968 Betty had started working at Foster Farms. She would retire from there some 28 years later. Betty enjoyed gardening. Her tulips were the best in the town. She also enjoyed watching her television shows: Young and the Restless, novelas, John Wayne movies and cheering on her beloved 49ers. On October 31, 2013, Betty was diagnosed with breast cancer. True to her stubborn spirit, she fought and won the battle but the fight wore her out. For the next 2 years, Betty would spend her time with her family, doting on her great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Tony Chaparro.
She is survived by her children: Gloria (David) Aleman, Delia Chaparro and Ronald Chaparro, all of Los Banos; her grandchildren: Tracy (Ruben) Maldonado of Merced, Rhianna (Sinh) Diep of Turlock, Amber Chaparro of Los Banos, Autumn Chaparro of Dublin, and Austin Chaparro of Dublin; greatgrandchildren: Trinity, Xavier, Max, Marzay, Damoney, Madden and a new little great one due March, 2016.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015 from 5-7:00 p.m. rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel, Los Banos, CA. The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow Mass at Los Banos District Cemetery.
