John August Freitas, Jr., 86, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on November 7, 2016. John “Jr.” was born in Dos Palos on November 8, 1929. John held many jobs, truck driver, farmer, and dispatcher; but most Los Banos natives remember Jr. from the Lucky Strike Bar that he and his mother Virginia Freitas owned together. He is preceded in death by two children, his son Joey A. Freitas and stepson Mike Climer. Jr. is survived by his wife Judy; his children John A. Freitas, III (Mary), Larry A. Freitas (Kathy), Eddie A. Freitas, Sharon Garay (Hugo), and Joann Heguy; stepchildren Jimmy and Lisa Scott; sister LaVerne Mazzoni; 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Services will be on Monday, November 14, 2016 beginning with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel; services will be at 11:00 a.m. Services are under the direction of Whitehurst Funeral Chapels~Los Banos.
