Manuel Azevedo Soares, a longtime resident of Los Banos, passed away surrounded by his loved ones at Memorial Hospital Los Banos. He was 78 years old.
He was born July 8, 1941 in Piedade Pico, Acores the son of Jose and Maria de Conceio (Silva) Soares.
Manuel enjoyed gardening and attending all Portuguese celebrations. He was a member of the OLF Society. Manuel had a long-standing relationship with God and was very blessed with his faith to his dying breath. He was an avid soccer fan; who cheered for Benfica. Manuel was a family man and enjoyed spending time and joking with his grandchildren.
He was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important.
Manuel will be forever remembered for his contagious smile, gentle eyes, caring heart, loving embrace and unconditional love.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Jose Azevedo and Maria de Conceio Soares.
Manuel is survived by his wife Maria Fatima Soares, children: Luke Hilberto Soares, Tony Fernando Soares, Susie Paula Kaiser and Christina Fatima Soares, grandchildren: Zachary Hernandez, Celeste Hernandez, Mariah Silva and Colton Soares.
A visitation will be held at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel of Los Banos on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 from 8:30 to 10:30 am. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 10:30am at St. Joseph’s Church of Los Banos followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Burial at Los Banos District Cemetery.
