Joe was born in San Jose, CA to Joseph and Josephine. He was the first of six children followed by Virginia, Nancy, Richard, Ronald and Dennis.
He grew up in San Jose. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and fought in the Korean War. Upon returning from the war he continued his education at San Jose City College and then on to San Jose State College. He graduated with a degree in Physical Education. He met the love of his life, Ruth Martin and they married in January of 1956. Joe and Ruth had 4 children, Bruce, Dianne, Jeff and Doug.
Joe coached high school football for 34 years. He was loved by his players and was still called “Coach” wherever he went. His lifelong love of football extended to college football and his beloved 49ers. He spent his retired years, with family, playing golf and watching sports on TV.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Italian Catholic Federation
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, son Doug, second wife Kathleen, sister Virginia, and brothers Dennis, Ron & Richard.
Joe is survived by children – Bruce (Tracy), Dianne (Mike), Jeff (Twila), daughter in law Michelle, sister – Nancy, grandchildren – Ariane (Eric), Dana (Trevor), Giona (Michael), Merissa (Steven), Celeste, Bryce, Austin (Rachel), Jae and Joe, and 4 Great Grandchildren
