Gladys Nadine Mattos, 96, a longtime resident of Dos Palos passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025. She was born Gladys Nadine McCaleb on August 17, 1928, in Purcell, OK to James and Jennie McCaleb.
Nadine as she preferred being called, graduated from high school and that same year met and married Arthur Mattos on June 7, 1947, in Dos Palos, CA. Together they had three children.
Nadine was employed by drs Vemireddy and Devireddy in Los Banos as a Medicare Billing Clerk. She retired in 1997. Nadine was a member of Sacred Heart Church of Dos Palos. She was a member of the Young Ladies Institute, S.P.R.S.I., PFSA and Senior Citizens. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening, playing games with her family and going to the casinos. She enjoyed spending time with her friends very much.
She was preceded by her husband, Arthur Mattos, her parents James and Jennie McCaleb, brother Jewel and sisters, Gertrude, Nina, Margie and Marylin and John Cardoza Jr.
Nadine is survived by her three children, Pamela C. McGuire and husband Dan of Hollister, Paulette M. Johnson and husband Clint of San Jose and Steven A. Mattos of San Jose; Brad Lindeman of San Jose; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 11 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dos Palos followed by The Funeral Mass at 11:30 am. Burial at the Dos Palos Cemetery District.
Remembrances may be sent to a charity of choice.
