Maria (Mary) Torres passed away surrounded by her family at her home on March 2, 2025, in Los Banos, California. Maria was born on Dec 20, 1932, in Aguascalientes, Mexico, to Santiago and Porfidia Torres. At a young age Maria and her family moved to the United States, traveling around the country as a migrant working family until they settled in Los Banos, California where she lived a long-blessed life of 92 years.
Maria worked many jobs before she stopped to raise her family of three sons. She was the owner of the Rosa De Oro establishment and owned and managed several rental properties until her retirement in 2020. Maria was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Los Banos and instilled her faith in her children.
Maria was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and Aunt, who always greeted her beloved family with open arms and a big smile. She will be missed by all that knew her and leaves a legacy of being a strong woman who always took care of and helped her family and friends. Maria's legacy will continue to live through her friends and family by the examples of kindness she showed to those she touched.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Leo Moya, brother Leno Torres, sister Silvestra Flores, and Sister Bernie Guzman. Maria is survived by her children: Gabriel (Gabe) Villasenor of Sanger, California, Edmund (Ed) Villasenor of Los Banos, Jim (Jimmy) Juarez of Los Banos, and Daughter in-laws Anita Villasenor and Tammy Villasenor. Maria leaves 3 grandchildren, Chris, Adam, and Erica Villasenor and 5 great grandchildren Natalya, Julian, Destiny, Nevan, and Jaylen. In addition, Maria is survived by her sisters, Petra (Eva) Esparza of San Jose, Margarita Espinoza of Los Banos, and Rachel Flynn of Merced.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 4 pm with the recital of the rosary at 6:00 pm. On Monday 17th March 2025 mass will be held at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and followed by a graveside burial service at 11:00 am at the Los Banos Cemetery in Los Banos.
Services are under the direction of Whitehurst Funeral Chapel-Los Banos.
