Obituary
Judith (Judy) Gay Ball, a long-time resident of Dos Palos, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024, in Fresno, CA with her family by her side.
Judy was born May 22, 1935, in Fresno, CA to Herbert and Elizabeth (Mastin) Gordon. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was raised in Fresno and Sanger where she attended local schools and graduated from Fresno High School in 1953. Judy continued her education at Merced College, where she majored in business. She soon met Frank Ball and they married on August 5, 1955, in Fresno and came to live in Dos Palos, where she remained until her death.
Judy was a homemaker for most of her adult life and she enjoyed cooking and baking, floral arranging and playing bridge. But more than anything, Judy loved spending time with her family. She and her husband, Frank, also owned and operated Ball Ice in Firebaugh for many years. After her husband passed unexpectedly in 1994, she owned and operated the Bloom Room Flower Shop in Dos Palos with her daughter Kim for several years. After retiring, she went on to work at Walmart, where she loved her job as a greeter, chatting with all who came through the doors. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Dos Palos, a member of the YLI and Altar Society.
Over the years, she was a fixture at sporting events all over Dos Palos. She supported her husband as a baseball coach and administrator at DPHS and her children during their time in athletics and other extracurricular events. She never missed a game her grandchildren played in or an event they participated in.
There are no words to express how deeply she will be missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Elizabeth (Mastin) Gordon, her husband Frank Ball, her daughter Kim Ball and brother Michael Christie.
She is survived by her daughter Catherine (Steve) Schaaf, four grandchildren: Jennifer (Freddy Coronado) Vincent, DJ (Jennifer Silva) Vincent, Jacob (Sydney) Ayala and Haley (Tyler) Wilson; two great grandchildren: Brayden Coronado and Cody Vincent; one brother Joey (Janice) Christie and one nephew Brian (Kirstie) Christie and one niece Michele West.
The family would be honored with your presence as they lay Judy to rest on Monday, September 23, 2024. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Church in Dos Palos, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Burial at the Dos Palos Cemetery District will follow the mass.
Judy requested that any donations be made to Breast Cancer Research in memory of her daughter, Kim.
