Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, James and June Painter. She will be deeply missed by her seven siblings: Terry Painter, Gale Young, Cheryl Bishop, Bruce Boyer, Yvonne Prendergast, Michelle Blevins, and William Painter. She leaves behind her three children: Anna Rice, James (Kim) Kelley, and David (Teryn) Kelley; seven granddaughters: Nichole (Salvador) Ortega, Amanda (Jonathon) Gonzalez, Brooke Angel (David) Gomez, Sarah Kelley, Nicky Kelley, Nancy (Donald) Birlew, and Keri (Brad) Cartwright; Fourteen Great-Grandchildren: Lucus and Ozzy Ortega, Sophia, Sadie and Summer Gonzalez, Andrew Solis, Alyssa, Julian, Aria, Addalyn and Zachary Birlew, Noah Kelley, Kenzie and Jessie Cartwright; one Great-Great Granddaughter: Andrea Solis.
One of Gloria's greatest accomplishments has included being the proud owner of J n D's video and gift store in the early 90's in Dos Palos. It wouldn't be unusual to catch her playing video games in between making balloon bouquets and movie/game rentals. It was here that she interacted with the community and was involved with the Dos Palos High School work program, helping young adults gain work experience.
Gloria will be remembered for her love and passion for her talented crocheting and cross-stitch work that was always perfection. She loved her green grass in the front yard, planting annual flowers in the spring, decorating her yard at Christmas time for others to enjoy, and her great owl collection. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and cheering on her great-grandchildren from the stands. Gloria is also known to have a good time on the dance floor and her cream soda in hand.
She enjoyed the time spent with her friends that turned into family, riding alongside to food venue events and smelling like BBQ for days at a time. She had so many great adventures and road trips with her sister Terry, and humorous heart-stopping moments that she shared after each trip.
Gloria's newfound faith was central to her life. She had begun to demonstrate God's love to all those whom she came to encounter and had peace when the Lord welcomed her home.
Gloria's memorial service will be held on December 1, 2023, at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel at 11:00 am, followed by her Celebration of Life at the D.E.S Hall from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. in Dos Palos, CA.
